Silk Yukata Jacket Weekend

Japanese style coverups jackets are everywhere right now, from a luxurious alternative to a dressing gown, to a glamorous cover-up at a wedding, they are endlessly versatile – so why not make your own? Using simple couture techniques such as French seams and hand finishing, this is a great way to get over your fears of handling silk and floppy fabrics. This workshop is not suitable for those who have never used a sewing machine before, but extensive sewing experience is not necessary.

For this whole weekend workshop you’ll need to purchase your own fabrics for this project – we have an exciting collection of plain and printed silks at the workshop for you to choose from, but you’re welcome to bring your own fabrics with you!

We will cover:

  • Techniques for cutting and handling slippery fabrics
  • Tips for sewing with silks
  • Couture finishes and decorative details to make your project something really special
  • In two days you will create your own beautiful robe
